September 2019 Horoscopes
As I write at the end of August, we’ve got three celestial bodies (Sun, Venus, and Mars) in Virgo, with Mercury soon to join them. It’s a super Virgo month until the Sun moves into Libra on the 23rd!
Saturn and the South Node have been transiting through Capricorn this whole year, encouraging us to let go of the fears, confusion, and bad habits that block us from taking full control of our lives. Their conjunction perfects on September 27, and will be triggered whenever the Moon is in the middle degrees of a cardinal sign (9/8 - Capricorn, 9/16 - Aries, 9/23 - Cancer, 9/29 - Libra). This is when we’re most likely to experience major events and developments. To learn more about what the South Node and Saturn are pushing you to reconsider, find the house that contains Capricorn in your chart.
On September 21, the final square between Jupiter and Neptune perfects. With their final square of 2019 (look at 1/13 and 6/13 for the first two chapters), we can expect some resolution or new understanding of this year's themes. Jupiter in Sagittarius has brought us inspiration, encouraging us to take action and pursue our dreams, while Neptune in Pisces is dreamy, creative… and confusing! We all bit off a little more than we could chew earlier this year, setting big goals and intentions without the plans required for follow-through. How can you commit to your aspirations in a more practical, actionable way? To learn more about how this square affects you, find the houses Jupiter and Neptune are transiting in your chart right now.
Read horoscopes for your sun sign, as well as your rising sign if you know it! Those who have some experience with astrology will also know that each of us has every sign within our birth chart, and therefore, you can get something out of reading the horoscope for each sign. I like to apply the interpretation for each sign to the house that it falls into in my chart - if you have any questions about how that works, please don’t hesitate to hit me up and ask.
I’ve started to use tarot in a side project over the past couple months, and wanted to experiment with drawing cards for each of the signs this month. I am by no means a tarot expert, so I’d love your feedback on how the cards resonate!
Affirmation: “Even when I’m down, I’m always on the up.”
Devote this month to… taking a new approach to structuring your life.
Tarot card: Wheel of Fortune
Rethink everything this month! September starts off with the Sun quincunx to your sign, an awkward angle which suggests a disconnection. Virgo season is all about reevaluating and restructuring so that we can take more informed action, but you’re all go-go-go all the time. Challenge yourself to slow down and think before you fire off. Despite how 2019 has been treating you, there is space for so much inspiration and dare I say it, divine intervention during Virgo season. Open yourself up to any suggestions that come your way, making a point to consider even the ideas that might sound ludacris at first. Understand that these tough periods always provide something special for you, even if it’s not what you asked for. It is these periods of growth that spur us into taking major action - the type that takes major courage but which always ends up in you coming out stronger. Take advantage!
Affirmation: “Remaining hopeful brings me gifts.”
Devote this month to… making time to do what you love.
Tarot card: The Star
What threw you off earlier this year, Taurus? I don’t ask to be accusing, I just know that once you name the issue that’s had a grip on you, the chokehold loosens and you can address the problem head on. During Virgo season, you get the chance to step back into your creativity, and perhaps this is a signal to focus on the good instead of the bad. It’s tempting to believe that the more we focus on our problems, the better equipped we are to “figure it out” - but sometimes what we really need is to lay our thoughts to rest and remind ourselves of the good in the world. The problems that seem intractable now might work out naturally if you give it a little time.
Affirmation: “I am greater than my challenges.”
Devote this month to… developing emotional mastery.
Tarot card: The Emperor
I know, you’ve got a lot on your plate these days, and I see how hard you’ve been working to keep it together. A lot is being asked of you, and you’re starting to realize that you can’t hand off this responsibility anytime soon. Instead of rebelling and pushing back against what you see as an affront to your freedom, step up and accept it with grace. Of course, this doesn’t mean say yes to whatever is asked of you - as you’ve built up your discernment this year, you’ve gotten better at discerning when to accept and when to reject. If you’re agreeing to take something on, there is no reason to be resentful about it… understand that you’re only hurting yourself with this mindset. Emotional agency and responsibility will set you free.
Affirmation: “I’ve done it before, and I can do it again.”
Devote this month to… seeking support where you can use it most.
Tarot card: Seven of Pentacles
You’re back on the up-and-up, but that doesn’t mean you have to handle it all yourself from here on out. Hopefully you now understand just how many people are actually in your corner, and that you could benefit from taking their advice. So much growth is possible for you this month, and perhaps paradoxically, the less you “try” to “force” yourself to get there, the more successful you will be. Look back on this past year and get clear about how far you’ve come - no matter how much help you’ve had along the way, you took on the responsibility of healing yourself. Take that as a reminder that no matter what you’re facing, you have the resources to take it on and win.
Affirmation: “I can make money while living my life the way I want to live it.”
Devote this month to… building a plan to create your ideal life.
Tarot card: Page of Swords
You already know this is your season, Leo - so make a point of not letting anything hinder your success. Are you getting the message yet, Leo? You have control over your finances, and if you play your moves now, there is nothing to stop you from having your cake and eating it too. Money’s been on your mind for the past few weeks, and this is your perfect chance to get clear about how to reach your financial goals. The big transformation in your health and habits sector has been driving you to restructure your day-to-day. Apply yourself, visualize each step you'll take to get there, and you can make huge progress before October begins. You can do it! This season is all about adding to your life, not subtracting - you can get what you want without depriving yourself.
Affirmation: “I give and receive in equal measure.”
Devote this month to… putting yourself first. Period!
Tarot card: Page of Cups
Happy birthday Virgo! Your birthday season always brings perspective and confirmation, and this year is no exception. Expect a resolution to the back-and-forth that's been going on in your relationship sector. Perhaps you’ve not been outright fighting with anyone, but you’re conflicted about how someone treats you. This is not necessarily a time to withdraw completely, but to communicate your boundaries and uphold them firmly. It can be so tempting to write off others who you perceive to mistreat you, but you also need to ask yourself how you contribute to the situation. How do you let others treat you? I know you want to give, and there is a way for you to offer yourself to others such that you’ll get what you give back in return. Experiment with being open and discerning simultaneously.
Affirmation: “I have a message that can change the world.”
Devote this month to… celebrating and working in equal measure.
Tarot card: Three of Cups
You enter the month feeling lost or confused, but once your birthday season rolls around, you remember that you got this. In true Libra fashion, you can share the inspiration and clarity you receive - remind yourself that you have gifts that others want to receive! This is a month of work, order, and process, but I know you also want to keep it fun and turn up. Resist the urge to go overboard; put your scales to good work and remember both work and fun are only good in moderation. More than anything, be sure to take some time to hone in on what you want to share with the people around you. No matter how much you doubt yourself, you’ve got something that could help the world, so know that whatever you’ve been quietly brainstorming is worth cultivating.
Affirmation: “Ideas come to life through communication.”
Devote this month to… sharing vulnerably within your network.
Tarot card: Eight of Wands
The more you share, the more you will receive. This year you're pushed to communicate more and more actively, rather than withholding until you feel safe. Consider that you may never feel fully secure and ready to open yourself up; there is always a risk involved, and it’s a risk with consequences that you’re more than prepared to take on. Your social connections have been buzzing, and there is so much to take advantage of if you deepen your bonds with the new people in your life. Scorpio, no one will want to let you in if you don’t at least show some willingness first! This is not letting your guard down or being weak… there is great strength in being open and vulnerable.
Affirmation: “If I can dream it, I can achieve it.”
Devote this month to… thinking bigger and making space for what all is to come.
Tarot card: The Tower
If you know anything about the Tower card, you’re likely buzzing with anticipation, anxiety, and excitement! Big changes are ahead, and I’d guess that a lot of these changes will be internal, at least at first. You’ve been grinding away this year, working towards everything you thought you wanted, but consider that there might be something greater for you. This is a time where you should put no limits on what you ask for, knowing that you can always create space in your life for more. If you’ve been wishing for a 2K year, know that there is 5K awaiting for you! It all comes down to your willingness to believe; and of course backing up that belief with the hard work that you’ve demonstrated you’re capable of. Know that anything that falls away in your life, whether purposely or by accident, is making room for something better than you’ve ever imagined.
Affirmation: “All my challenges become assets and resources.”
Devote this month to… taking a mental inventory of all the progress you’ve made this year.
Tarot card: Page of Wands
Take a new approach to your tribulations this month. Remember that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger (that’s overdramatic, but the sentiment applies), and that if you’re experiencing something tough, it’s likely that people around you are going through something similar. Your ability to overcome and rise up could be a real inspiration to others if you were more transparent about the challenges you face and how daunted you feel in the face of them. Of course, that's an incredibly vulnerable way to share! You first need to feel confident in your ability to share any words of wisdom, so take some time to reflect on how far you’ve come - honestly and realistically. It’s well within your power to turn negative into positive, and the proof is in your ongoing personal development.
Affirmation: “I accept ALL parts of me.”
Devote this month to… getting comfortable expressing yourself, especially when you’re worried you might be rejected or unaccepted.
Tarot card: Seven of Swords
You might start this month off a little uneasy, feeling as though your expression or your confidence has been compromised. When we feel this way, it’s only natural that we want to withdraw, limiting our social connections or even putting on a front to avoid scrutiny. However, the tough pill to swallow this month is that most of your insecurities are self-imposed. You are the way you are for a reason, and if anyone has a problem with that, there’s no reason to change or hide parts of yourself to make them comfortable. Don't give anyone the power to make you feel less than! Tap into your inner badass and remember that you’re all that you need. Once you’re able to build yourself up, you’ll realize that the people who are with you will ride for you no matter what.
Affirmation: “I choose what I bring into my life.”
Devote this month to… cultivating partnerships that will further your business goals.
Tarot card: Strength
The Sun is opposite your sign during Virgo season, bringing attention to your relationships. At the same time, you’re undergoing an identity rehaul with implications for your career, personal life, and self-confidence. You’ve got a full hand here - anything that’s no longer serving you, it’s within your perfect right to eliminate. When you go through this process, there’s so much room for better things! Remember that you don’t owe anyone anything; it’s time to put yourself first and invest in what really matters instead of what you feel is expected of you. If you are willing to put that work in, you’ll be able to see who the positive influences in your life are.
